Meetings Regarding the Spur Property

May 11, 2004 -- At this point, it is not clear whether agenda items related to the sale of parks and recreational land in Millbrae will appear on the agenda for this meeting. You can check the agenda yourself, probably starting on May 7, 2004 at this link.

April 27, 2004, -- At this meeting the Council made two decisions:

- Approved Option 2 Recommendations in the Event that Fire Services Assessment Fails.

- Recommended to Surplus City Property at 890 Sequoia Avenue.

The Council did express its intent not to neither sell 890 Sequoia nor close Fire Station 38 if the Millbrae Fire Services Assessment measure passes.

April 13, 2004, At this city staff recommended that Option 2 of the MillbraeNow list several measures to raise/save money, including the sale of 890 Sequoia and some additional parcels located within the Spur property.  All alternative ways of raising new revenue were dismissed as unworkable.

March 30, 2004, -- No meeting after all.  At the March 9th meeting the Council suggested that a March 30th meeting might be necessary in order to handle all of the business on the schedule. However, that business was completed at the March 23rd meeting.  After that meeting the City Clerk told a MT participant that there would be no March 30th meeting.

March 23, 2004, 7:00 pm.  Very Important  City Council Meeting. City Administrator Killian will present an update of the MillbraeNow!, including a recommendation for specific action on to initiate a Fire Supression Assessment District measure to to be voted on by Millbrae property owners.

An advance copy of the report indicates that sales of park and open space land are still very much on the table, although the staff has modified its position somewhat to make such sales contengent on other events happening first (such as any general emergency in the next two years or failure of the Fire Assessment District measure to be passed).  For more details see the Events / News page.  7:00 p.m. City Council Chambers, 621 Magnolia Avenue , Millbrae.

February 24, 2004, 7:00 pm.  City Council Meeting in which the Council decided to authorize work preliminary to selling Sequoia Avenue parcel land in order to raise cash for the city.  For details on the Sequoia propoerty see this page

February 10, 2004, 7:00 pm. Regular City Council Meeting in which the Council decided to dealay a vote on whether to authorize work preliminary to selling Spur land in order to raise cash for the city. More on this meeting on the Events / News page.

February 5, 2004, 7:00 pm. - 10:00 p.m. - The city government's Workshop Presentation at Taylor Middle School Auditorium, 850 Taylor Boulevard, Millbrae.

This was an important chance to make residents' views known.  At the February 3rd City Council Meeting the council stated that they wanted to see what the public had to say at this February 5th meeting before arriving at a decision on how to proceed.
